Horse Happenings around Clermont County

What would Clermont County OHC members like to see the State OHC do differently?   Perhaps be better at what they're doing now, or maybe simply stop doing a few things?   How about improvements to the state meetings, website, Quarterly Newsletter, Corral?  How about the revised bylaws and standing rules?  do they make sense and do they describe what the state OHC and county OHC chapters are doing?  Are there suggestions for new OHC initiatives?

Well here's our chance to do something.  A few of us want to come up with a list of items to send to our OHC state people for discussion at their Executive Cabinet weekend meeting coming up January.  We'll send this list to our regional rep of course, but think it should also be sent to the other cabinet members, so they can be prepared ahead of time.   Hopefully other regions will have input also.

It is evident to most of us who have attended OHC state meetings (generally 2 each year, Nov and Mar) that suggestions and proposals from the floor simply won't get anywhere.  There's simply not enough time (or preparation) for a meaningful presentation, discussion, and a good decision.  Its been easier and safer at the meeting to do nothing about the suggestion or take it to a quick vote where it is almost always voted down.

We believe a better way is to prepare a good written presentation of our suggestions, and have them in the hands of Executive Cabinet meeting attendees before their meeting.  These Cabinet meetings, under the leadership of president Rick Patterson, include state officers, directors, regional reps, committee chairpersons and other invitees, have become very important in developing OHC's plans for the near future and beyond.   Let's put these people to work!
